In partnership with the Virginia Museum of History & Culture, the BJHC will provide a 2 (two) day exhibition on the evenings of Wednesday June 17th, 2026 and Thursday June 18, 2026. Each day the event will start at 4:30pm EST and will end at 8:00pm EST.

This special event will showcase two public lectures by:

Dr. Ma'asehyahu Isra-Ul (Executive Director of the Black Judaic Heritage Center) -

Lecture title: Searching for Zion: Garveyism, Displacement, and the Recovery of Afro-Jewish Identity

AND

Dr. Adam Ewing (Professor of African American Studies and scholar of Garveyism)

Lecture title: Garveyism and the Search for an African Nationality

The event will host breakout sessions (Community Learning Circles) with scholars/practitioners, a photo exhibit of Black Judaic/Jewish communities from the Americas and Africa over the last one hundred years as well as a special viewing of a documentary film "Through the Spectacles of Ethiopia: Garveyism, Black Judaism and the Virginia Commonwealth".
