The Chrysalis Institute of Richmond will host acclaimed Jewish author and award-winning storyteller Slash Coleman on Saturday, November 8, 2014 as he teaches an experiential workshop and interactive storytelling session entitled “The Stories We Tell Ourselves.” The event will take place from 9:30 am - 2:00 pm at the Chrysalis Gathering Space in Carytown.
“Whether it’s on Facebook, Twitter or at work, the stories of our lives consciously and unconsciously shape the way we understand ourselves and the ways in which we connect with others. Yet, we often fail short when shaping our personal stories,” Coleman says. “I’ll take a select group of students through an intimate process where they’ll learn a framework for communicating the truth of who they are through their personal story.”
Coleman’s recent book The Bohemian Love Diaries was which was chosen as a Jewish Book Council book for 2013-2014 and a finalist for the 17th Annual People's Choice Library of Virginia Literary Award for non-fiction. Stories from his memoir won the 2013 Best Action Stories Award from Storytelling World Magazine and the 2012 Best Drama Award from UnitedSolo. The one-man stage version of the The Bohemian Love Diaries (written and performed by Coleman) was performed to a sold out Off-Broadway crowd in 2013 at Theater Row.
