Our guided tour of the recently refurbished and updated Beth Ahabah Museum & Archives starts at 1:00 pm at 1121 West Franklin Street, Richmond, VA 23220.
With roots reaching back to the sixth oldest congregation in the U.S., K.K. Beth Ahabah (House of Love) was founded in 1841. Beth Ahabah Museum & Archives was formally established in the late 1970's. It now interprets, educates, and documents the history and culture of the entire Jewish Community of Richmond. Through its archival collection and public exhibitions, our history is passed on to future generations.
We will also get to see Beth Ahabah's magnificent sanctuary, which is over a century old. The Neo-Classical sanctuary features 29 stained glass windows, a remarkable pipe organ with over 2,000 pipes and an impressive stained glass ornamental dome.
